How to Buy a Netbook
Netbooks have been around for quite a few years now, with the term netbook being used by Intel. Netbooks have also been known as mini-laptops and ultra-portables, mainly because they are smaller than regular laptops making them much more portable and convenient to carry with you wherever you go. Most of the newer netbooks feature LCD screens that are usually between nine to ten inches in size, weigh between two and three pounds, and boast a battery that lasts longer than most traditional laptop batteries. The price of netbooks can vary depending on the brand and the features, some being as low as $199.00 and some being as high as $800.00.
The popularity of netbooks has been increasing tremendously because people want a way to access the Internet without having to lug around a larger, traditional laptop. With the variety of different netbooks currently available on the market, how do you know which one to choose? That question can be answered quite simply by following a few simple tips.
Before you buy a netbook, make sure that it is really want you want instead of an actual laptop. Netbooks are great if you just want a small, portable way to access the Internet. However, if you are looking to get a great gaming experience or want to create and edit videos, then you may want to invest in a laptop rather than a netbook. The reason netbooks have such a long battery life is because of the obvious fact that they are small, but also because the internals of the netbook are usually smaller and less powerful than that of their laptop cousin. So if you need a powerful microprocessor or graphics card to enjoy an intense gaming experience, then you may want to invest in a laptop because you will not find those in a netbook.
Make sure that the netbook you buy does not have an abnormally small screen size. When shopping for a netbook, you will want to look for netbooks that have a screen size of around 8.9 inches or larger. There are some netbooks out there that have screen sizes that are much smaller which can make it hard to view an entire web page without having to scroll up, down, left and right to see everything on the page. So when shopping for a netbook, try to get a screen size that is at least 8.9 inches, a ten inch screen would be more preferable.
When purchasing a netbook, make sure that you are getting a six cell battery, as a lot of netbooks come with a three cell battery that only offers about three hours of life. You may have to a pay a little bit more for a six cell battery, but in the end it will be worth it because you will have a longer lasting battery. Another thing to look out for is the keyboard. Make sure that the keyboard not too small, if it is then you may find it hard to type anything on it. Look for a keyboard with big enough buttons so that you can find and punch them accurately.
Last but not least, look for what type of software comes with the netbook. A lot of companies out there will cheap out on the software so that they can offer you the computer for a lesser price. While a cheaper price is great, if you have to spend a lot of time downloading all different kinds of essential software, then that just ruins the whole netbook experience. So when purchasing a netbook, look for one that fits your budget but still comes with all the essential software that is vital to you. That is all there is to it, just use the tips listed above and you will be on your way to having that perfect netbook for you.
