Palm Pixi features and overview , looking forward with hp
The Palm Pixi is another step in the Palm evolutionary ladder. You can consider it as a more compact version of Palm Pre. Pixi has plenty of features to cater the needs of business users and Palm is steadily adding more useful applications to the Palm webOS.
The device is essentially an entry-level phone which sorely lacks a more powerful processor, while the meager 8GB memory storage might seem like too small but it allows for a lighter device. The Palm Pixi’s pricing scheme may also bring on a big smile on your face as it can be bought for $0.01 when purchased with a new Sprint or Verizon service plan. Its touch interface is virtually indistinguishable to the Plam Pre and you can still use the swiping gesture to switch between applications. Just like the Pre, the Palm Pixi can detect a change in orientation or screen flips. It supports iTunes and you can easily transfer media files into the device. The music player is a little rudimentary but performs nicely.
The Palm Pixi’s has a 2.63″ display at 320 x 400 resolution and 18-bit color depth. You have a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor along with a GPS receiver for navigational purposes. Its OS performance is slightly better than the Pre, however it carries a weaker 2-megapixels camera. The battery can last for one day and it is possible to double the battery life by disabling the 3G feature. All in all, the verdict is that although Pixi might not compare with high-end smartphones, it is still a promising device.
